RFA Welcomes New Board Member
December 20, 2010
(December 20, 2010) Washington – The Renewable Fuels Association today announced the addition of a new Board Member: Absolute Energy LLC. Absolute Energy LLC is primarily owned by local farmers and is located near Lyle, Minnesota, and St. Ansgar, Iowa. Absolute Energy LLC is a distillers grains and ethanol facility that has been in operation since February 2008. The facility processes approximately 41 million bushels of locally grown corn into about 697 million pounds of distillers grains annually. These distillers grains contain close to 195 million pounds of protein and 80 million pounds of corn oil which contributes greatly to the world's food supply. Absolute Energy LLC exports most of their distillers grains to help feed countries like China, Korea and Mexico. During the fermentation process Absolute Energy LLC removes the lower value starch from the mash to produce 115 million gallons per year of ethanol fuel while simultaneously concentrating the high value protein and oil into their distillers grain.
“The RFA is pleased to welcome Absolute Energy into the association,” said RFA President and CEO Bob Dinneen. “The leaders of Absolute Energy have been very active participants in helping shape the future and direction of the industry and we are proud to bring their voices into the RFA.”
“On issues from public policy to fuel quality, the RFA provides resources and expertise that are second to none in the ethanol industry,” said Absolute Energy CEO Rick Schwarck. “Absolute Energy LLC is pleased to join with the members of the RFA to tackle the key issues facing the industry from expanding use to addressing state regulations to answering the unfounded charges by our critics. American distillers grains and ethanol are a success story and we look forward to writing the next chapter.”
With the addition of Absolute Energy, the RFA Board of Directors consists of 46 companies. Every producing member of the RFA receives one vote on the Board of Directors. The RFA is the largest trade association for ethanol producers in the world.
Since 1981, the RFA has served as the voice of ethanol industry, helping grow the industry from just 215 million gallons to nearly 13 billion of production in 2010. Next year, the RFA will celebrate 30 years of unparalleled success establishing sound public policy and opening new markets for domestically-produced ethanol.
