RFA Announces 15th National Ethanol Conference Keynote Speaker
January 07, 2010
(January 7, 2010) Washington – Expanding the market for ethanol is one of the top priorities for America’s biofuel industry. Through the use of mid-level blends like E15, and through higher level blends such as E85, America can begin to significantly reduce its reliance on petroleum as a motor fuel source. Any effort to expand ethanol use cannot be successful without the cooperation of America’s auto industry.
With this in mind, the Renewable Fuels Association proudly announces that Thomas G. Stephens, General Motors Vice President for Global Product Operations, will keynote the 2010 National Ethanol Conference in Orlando, Florida, on February 15-17.
“The importance of a cooperative and constructive relationship with the auto industry to America’s ethanol producers and marketers cannot be overstated,” said RFA President Bob Dinneen. “Whether it is working on technical issues surrounding mid-level blends or expanding the infrastructure for blender pumps and higher level ethanol blends, having auto companies at the table is critical. I am pleased to welcome Mr. Stephens to the National Ethanol Conference. His experience and expertise will provide attendees greater insight into the thinking of the auto industry with respect to increasing ethanol use.”
On April 1, 2009, Stephens was named General Motors vice chairman, Global Product Operations. Stephens had served as executive vice president of GM Global Powertrain and Global Quality since March 3, 2008. He will continue to oversee GM’s Global Quality activity. Stephens chairs GM’s Energy and Environmental Strategy Board and serves on GM’s Executive Committee, Global Product Development Council, GM Global Technology Operations, Inc. Board, General Motors Overseas Corporation Board, OnStar, LLC Board of Directors, and GM Technologies, LLC Board of Directors.
The National Ethanol Conference is the nation’s premiere policy and marketing event for the U.S. ethanol industry. This year’s event is being held in Orlando, Florida from February 15-17, 2010.
