RFA and Growth Energy Hold Joint Press Conference on RFS
August 02, 2012
(August 2, 2012) Washington - Following recent calls for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to waive the current volume goals of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) held a joint press conference at the National Press Club today to discuss the current drought, ethanol production and the unnecessary calls to waive the RFS. Additionally, RFA and Growth Energy discussed the built in flexibility of the RFS and how the market is already responding to the current situation, as well as address a number of inaccuracies and misinformation surrounding the use of corn in the production of ethanol.
Waiving the current RFS requirements would not only affect job loss, but would also increase the price of gasoline for consumers and continue our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
