Greening Program

The RFA has a comprehensive program to green the National Ethanol Conference by focusing on the 4 R’s of sustainability: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  Our goal is to substantially reduce waste, replace non-earthy-friendly products with environmentally friendly ones, and strive for carbon-neutral status.  Greening measures will include recycling centers for glass, plastic, aluminum, paper and cardboard; reusable dishware and utensils (using bagasse or corn-based disposables if necessary); unused food will be donated to local food banks; and printing on recycled paper.  The San Antonio Convention Center is also recognized for their stringent energy conservation practices.

The Renewable Fuels Association is proud to be an Associate Member of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).  In alignment with the RFA’s advocacy of the environmental benefits of ethanol production and use and as a CCX Associate Member, the RFA has made a voluntary but legally binding commitment to report and offset 100% of its carbon footprint.
