ETHANOL:  getting even greener

In the past 5 years, America's ethanol producers have become dramatically more efficient.  According to an analysis done by Argonne National Laboratory, American ethanol production has:

  • Reduced water use nearly 27%
  • Reduced electricity use nearly 16%
  • Reduced total energy use nearly 22%

The study compares data from 2001 with data from 2006.  During this period, America's ethanol industry achieved these improvements in efficiency and resource use while increasing production nearly 300%.
